University Montessori Teacher Education Program at UC Irvine is the ONLY Montessori teacher education program where students not only earn a national credential but also receive early childhood education units from UC Irvine! Located on the UC Irvine campus in Orange County, CA, it is easily reached via freeways.

Our adult learners oftern com to us with a full personal life, and work, and choose our responsibility to mentor and support each adult learner to success without the stress of burden of difficult written tests or useless assignments. The architecturally award-winning lab school facility allows students to learn in comfort, be supported with respect, and have access to a multitude of hand-on learning materials. All concurrent practicum. This brings our adult learners instant success!

The Course Is a hybrid with both in person and online instruction as well as participation in a concurrent practicum. The program lasts one academic year.

Our extraordinary instructors have created experiences which not only teach in a way that

meets the needs of today’s adult learners for ease in learning, but also continuously equips them to immediately apply their learning in their practicum classrooms!

Our adult learners are prepared by learning:

  • How their commitment of respect for each individual child affects their guidance

  • How to create and manage a Montessori environment

  • How a spiral curriculum inspires, teaches and expands learning

  • How to use their observations to reflect and provide insight into their guidance and preparation

    of their classroom environment

  • The art of the Montessori lessons

  • The science and learning within Montessori didactic materials and extending learning activities

  • How to create essential extensions, learning materials and activities for an enriched

    environment

  • How to appreciate the cosmic world and a greater society fostering peace, equity and

    environmental stewardship

  • How to engage families and how to be a productive member of a school community

  • The importance of helping children love learning and becoming a lifelong learner oneself
